Obituary of Mary Lucy Montoya
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lucy Montoya who peacefully went with Our Lord and Savior on June 19, 2023. Lucy was born January 25,1935 in Sabino, NM and resided most of her life in Albuquerque, NM.
Lucy was the beloved wife of Daniel Montoya Jr. who proceeded her in death. She was a mother of 7 children: Irene Aragon, Betty Montoya, Catherine Bazar (James Bazar), Connie Phillips (Fred Philips), Danny Rey Montoya, and Robert Montoya and was preceded by her daughter, Loretta Carabajal. Having a family of 5 generations, she was a grandmother of 21, great grandmother of 36 and great great grandmother of 7 and touched many lives throughout her 88 years. Lucy often enjoyed traveling to Denver and Montana to visit her family. She enjoyed spending time with her friends attending dances and was an avid bingo player at the senior centers. She also volunteered at Holy Rosary Church for many years.
Lucy was warm-hearted, funny, and very joyful. She was instrumental in raising her grand and great grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her; the loss of Lucy is deeply felt by her family and friends. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the long life she lived, and the many memories created with her. In honor of Lucy, we ask those who knew her to share their cherished memories with her family so that her life’s legacy will live on through those stories.
