Florence Thomas

Obituary of Florence Helena Thomas

In the early morning of July 4th 2023 Florence Helena Thomas, 85, left her home on earth to be with the Lord. Florence was born on October 13, 1937 in Camden, New Jersey. She lived there until her children reached adulthood. She later moved to Oakland, California where she made lifelong friends, who she kept in contact with over the years.

She later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she spent the final decades of her life dedicating her time to caring for her family. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Although Florence never stepped on the court or played a down, she was always considered part of the team because of her competitive spirit and passionate cheer.

Florence went by many names, some called her Mickey, but to most she was known as Granny. She made everyone she encountered feel special and loved. She would often gather with loved ones to have BBQ’s and other family-oriented events. She loved spending time watching sports and listening to music. Granny was a sports fanatic and loved to cheer enthusiastically for the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.

Florence was preceded in death by her son Terry Rogers and her daughter Sheila Watson. She is survived by her sons, Leon Rogers and Rodney Rogers, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren across Albuquerque, Texas and New Jersey.

Florence took great pride in her grandchildren and the lives they built for themselves. She will always be remembered for her positivity, generosity, and nurturing attitude. The spirit, soul, and life of Florence will never be forgotten and could never be replaced. She is deeply missed by all her loved ones, but we have faith that she is with GOD, and that we will be with her again.
