Obituary of Olav Fredrick Roos

Olav Roos died on July 5, 2023. He was 77 years old. He was born February 6, 1946 in Panama City, Panama. He was the youngest of three sons from his parents, Alford and Clotilde Roos. He graduated from Balboa High School in 1964. Olav became a U.S. Citizen in August of 1965. In 1966, Olav enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Albrook Air Force Base in Balboa, Panama. He proudly served his country for nearly 4 years before being honorably discharged.

Olav had a variety of careers over his lifetime, but found his true love was teaching. In 1984, he graduated from New Mexico State University and began teaching both junior high and high school students in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Moriarity. Upon retiring, Olav spent as much time as possible outdoors like fishing various lakes throughout the state, golfing, riding his motorcycle, or just spending hours walking in the neighborhood talking to people. He also loved gardening, a hobby he and his mother both had. Olav’s kind demeanor and adventurous stories were something those who were blessed to know him, loved about him.

Olav leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter Hannah, three grandchildren; Elijah, Paisley, and Christopher III, as well as two brothers Oscar and Omar.

Memorial service for Olav will be held Thursday, August 3rd at 6pm., at Unity and Faith Ministries Church located at 3301 Southern Blvd. #104 Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Entombment will be Friday, August 4th, 10am., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery
