Obituary of Roy Martinez

On Saturday, July1, 2023 Roy Martinez loving father of 4 children, brother to 3 remaining siblings passed away at age 74.

 

Roy was born February 27, 1949 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Fernandes and Eutimia (Garcia) Martinez. He graduated high school 1967 in Tucumcari. After high school worked many jobs and learned many trades. He would move from New Mexico to California in early 1970's. There he met Becky Lara  and her son Peter and they would marry in August of 1973 and have 3 more children. 1 son Fernandes, 2 daughters Sonja and Lorinda.

 

Roy had two favorite hobbies. He loved fishing and hunting. He equally enjoyed these times of his life. This would also be a MEN'S ONLY event. Everyone who went on these advertures had a nickname or you would be "name baptized" while on that trip. He also like to prank people just for the laughs. Above all he was a generous man.

 

Roy was proceded in death by his father Fernandes and mother Eutimia. His brothers Joe Martinez, Eugene Martinez, Larry Martinez, and Tony Martinez. His sisters Arcelia Martinez, Emma Otero, and Frances Gutierrez.

 

He is survived by his four children Peter Solis, Fernandes Martinez, Sonja Agnes, and Lorinda Martinez-Leatherman. His brother George Martinez, and two sisters Lina Parras, Cordy Gaona and lots of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

A memorial service will be held on Friday July 28,2023 at Riverside Funeral Chapel at 2pm. Flowers of donations may be sent to Riverside 225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. After the service please join the family for a Celebration of life  meal at 1634 University Blvd NE room D.
