Hilda Potillo Kelly

Obituary of Hilda Catherine Potillo Kelly

Hilda Catherine Potillo Kelly was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 29, 1932. She was the seventh child of Gladys Jordan and Arthur Potillo. She was widowed to Lawrence Kelly. Later on in life she met Calvin Young, and they had her only child, Katrina Hampton. Hilda moved to Albuquerque in 1981. She was the Receptionist at UNM/Continuing Education where she retired and was fondly known as “Sarge.”

Hilda was a woman who exuded such a magnificent radiant light. Her spirit could light up a room. She was so spunky, independent, hardworking, generous and kind. The list could go on. She loved to cook some of her most favorite dishes including rice pudding and potato salad. Hilda loved to travel, work on her word search books, watch her crime shows, westerns and baseball. But most importantly she enjoyed being around her family.

On July 12th, the angels carried Hilda Catherine away to be reunited with her parents, her brothers Leroy and Howard, her sisters Willa Mae, Verdella, Elloise, Vivian, Doris, and Sandra. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Edwin Potillo; her daughter Katrina; grandchildren Courtney, Jordon and Jared Hampton; great grandchildren Jayden and Mario; along with her family of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her.
