Obituary of Amelia S Galvez
Amelia S. Galvez, 81, loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and Godmother, and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home on August 19, 2023. Amelia was born into this world on March 26, 1942, and rode into the sunset peacefully on August 19, 2023. Amelia was preceded in death by her loving parents Antonio y Margaret Sena, her sister Cecilia Martinez, parents-in-law, Francisco y Maria Galvez. She was also preceded in death by her grand-parents Margarito y Amada Alire, Aunt Estella Alire, and Uncle Paul and Louise Alire. Also preceding her death are brothers-in-law Amadeo Galvez, Donald Galvez, Dan Martinez, Joe Martinez, and Sister-in-law Griselda y Hipolito Chavez.
Amelia was born and raised in Ojo Caliente and Espanola. She was hard-working, a great cook, friend, and loved to bake goodies. She loved her furry pets and enjoyed going to the casino and horse races.
Amelia is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Guadalupe Galvez, her son David and wife Aide and children Michael, Ernie David Rey, Antonio, Phylicia, Casandra, Briana, Joshua, and Andrea; son Emmanuel and wife Sheri and children Tommy and David; son Vincent and fiancé Vicky and children Michael and Ashley, and son Mario. Amelia is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Roy Martinez and nieces Carla and Brenda Martinez, and Cousin Paula Faulkner and husband Ike. Sisters-in-law Tessie, Elizaida Tela, and Gilia, and several other special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Recitation of the Rosary will be on Saturday, September 2nd at 11:30 a.m. in Ojo Caliente at St. Mary’s Catholic Church followed by the celebration Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at the Ojo Caliente Cemetery.
Escorting Amelia to her final resting place will be her grandchildren.
A most sincere thanks to family and friends from near and afar who called, sent their thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the family. Special thanks to everyone who assisted for their loving care of our beloved Amelia.
