Obituary of Margaret Gonzales

Margaret Garcia Gonzales born January 18, 1931 passed away on August 7, 2023 at the age of 92. She was born in Bernalillo, New Mexico to Enriquez Garcia and Lucila Tafoya Garcia.  

Margaret married Isidro Gonzales on December 21, 1947. Together they raised 7 children in Corrales.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sons Arthur at a young age, George and Mely, her Grandchild Yolanda Rodriguez and Great Grandchild Blue Haven.  Siblings who have also passed are Aniceto (Tillie), Rose Navarro (Ralph), Charlie (Rose), Henry (Gloria), Beatrice Montano (Max), several brother and sister-in-laws.

Margaret is survived by her children Joseph (Diana), Patricia (Anthony), Frankie (Melissa), Isidro Jr. (Elaine) and 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, siblings Eliza Colunga, Fela Sena, sister-in-law Lucy Stevens, cousins and friends.

Margaret attended mass at Our Lady of Sorrows where she sang in the Spanish Choir.  The last 6 years she would watch the Mass on TV, English and then in Spanish.

She will mostly be remembered as the Avon lady, both in Corrales and Bernalillo.

We would like to thank Fr. Patrick from Holy Family for coming to administer the Sacrament of Holy Annointing, and Compassus Hospice, especially Ann.  Also Gilbert and Sharon her neighbors who were there to help with whatever her needs were.

Services for Margaret will be held on Thursday, August 31^st at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am, Mass at 10:45 with Fr. June; Andrew Mora and the Spanish Choir will sing some of her favorite hymns.

Cremation has taken place at RIVERSIDE FUNERAL HOME of ALBUQUERQUE
