Obituary of Eugenio Procopio Quintana

On Tuesday, August 15th, 2023. Eugenio (Gene) Procopio Quintana went to meet our Lord. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, brother and son. He passed away at the age of 82. 

Eugenio was born on November 15, 1940 in Cerrito,NM to Florencio and Agneda Quintana. He married Ramoncita Chavez on February 24, 1968. They raised a son and a daughter. 

Eugenio had a passion for music. He was well know for his band "El Gato Negro". His music was admired not only by family and friends, but also by all who heard him play. He also had a passion for playing pool at the senior centers. He won a 3rd place trophy at one of the pool ternaminates they had in 2022.He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his beautiful hair, his kind compassionate spirit and making the song "El Gato Nergo" his trademark.

Eugenio was preceded in death by his father Florencio, his mother Agneda, his brothers Perfecto, Florencio, Abran, Lalo, Romaldo, sister Maria and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife Ramoncita, son Ronald, Daughter Yvette and husband Jon, three granddaughters Joslyn, Alycia, Nicole, his brothers Arthuro, Vidal, George, sisters Edminda, Lydia, and several nieces and nephews.

Rosary and funeral mass will be celebrated on September 6, 2023 @ 8:30 AM at Holy Family Church 562 Atrisco Dr. SW ABQ, NM 87105. Reception will follow at the Holy Family Parish Hall.
