Obituary of Peter Lody
Peter (Pete) John Lody, 48, of Tijeras, New Mexico, passed away on September 17, 2023 after a tough battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on June 20, 1975, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Pete was the beloved son of Peggy Evans and Charles Lody. He is also survived by his stepmother, Elizabeth (Betsy) Lody, his sister, Amy Williamson, and brother-in-law, Chris Williamson. Pete will be deeply missed by his niece, Ava Williamson, nephew, Ben Williamson and pet dog Hank.
Pete grew up in Spring, Texas, and graduated from Klein High School in 1994. He furthered his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. After school, he worked in various fields including construction and oil and gas. He was an accomplished contractor, and at one time owned his own pool maintenance business. His attention to detail and ability to solve any problem made him a heavily-sought-after resource for his friends and family. Many of us can attest to the amazing work he performed. Whether it was finishing a new home construction project, or remodeling a bathroom, kitchen or basement, or building a fence, his handiwork has stood the test of time.
In his free time, Pete kept busy with many hobbies. He loved to hike, mountain bike, and go camping with friends. He was a skilled snowboarder, teaching his niece and nephew how to survive the slopes. His love for dogs led him to become a foster “parent” to Siberian Huskies, who benefitted immensely from his patience, love and training. Putting his engineering skills to use, he built many remote-control cars and his own high-powered PC. He even helped his nephew build one, too.
Pete loved Jesus and will be remembered for his kind heart, humility, playful sense of humor and loyalty. He had an unwavering love for his family and friends and would drop everything to help them in their time of need. He was truly a gift to all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed. We are comforted to know he is without pain and joyfully in the presence of the Lord.
A ceremony to honor Pete's life will be held on October 21, 2023, at Mountain Christian Church, located at 12242 NM-14, Cedar Crest, NM. The service will begin at 1:00, with reception to follow, and will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and loved ones to pay their respects and share cherished memories of Pete.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mountain Christian Church at https://www.mountainchristianchurch.org/giving.
