Obituary of Jose Filadelfio Martinez

Jose Filadelfio Martinez went home with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the age of 87, with loved ones by his side. He was born and raised in El Llano, NM and a current resident of Albuquerque, NM.

Jose is survived by Jenny Martinez, his loving wife of 63 years; they raised two wonderful sons, Phil Martinez wife Carolyn; and Tommy Martinez. They were a source of pride and Joy throughout his life.

Grandchildren; Aaron Martinez; wife Camille. Sharon Martinez; husband Branden. Great-grandchildren Jordan, Aaliyah, Marshall, Heaven, Scarlette, Amerie and Lucy.

Brothers and sisters, Elauterio Martinez, Rosina Dominquez, Cecilia Gallegos, Aggie Abeyta Brother and sister in laws, Dora Martinez and Ponciano Lucero.

Jose is preceded in death by his mother and father, Domingo and Paula Martinez. His Brother Orlando Martinez; His Sisters, Candelaria Lucero, Virginia Gonzales (Reynaldo), Romana Romo (Felix); Frank Dominquez, Joe Gallegos, Christine Martinez, and Sam Abeyta.

He worked as a Heavy Equipment operator for 18 yrs. at the Department of Transportation.  He also retired from Zork Hardware after 25 yrs.

Jose loved taking rides up north to visit family in Anton Chico, NM. He enjoyed gathering for Matanzas and spending quality time with his family. He was a devoted Catholic, kind and generous person. He enjoyed lending a helping hand at job sites with his two sons.  Jose enjoyed spending his mornings drinking coffee with friends at McDonalds and telling jokes. He also enjoyed going to the casino with friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the many family members, friends and caregivers who kindly provided support during these last months of his life.

Jose will be missed, but his legacy will live on within his beautiful family. He is gone from this world, but he'll always be present in our hearts.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10:00 am at Riverside Funeral Home. 225 San Mateo Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87108. A reception lunch will be held at the American Legion Post 72 located at 5107 Central Ave NW Albuquerque, NM 87105 at 12:30pm.
