Obituary of Dorothy Alice Rodarte
Dorothy “Ditto” Alice Rodarte
On Thursday September 28, 2023, Dorothy “Ditto” Alice Rodarte, loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away with her loving family surrounding her.
Dorothy was born in Taos, New Mexico on February 6, 1940, to Frank S Garcia and Cleo Trujillo Garcia. While a teenager, the family moved to Albuquerque. Dorothy missed Taos very much and would skip school to go back to Taos, having to ask her grandfather Tranquillo Trujillo, for money to get back to Albuquerque.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Don “Jose” Rodarte, her parents Frank and Cleo, her brother Roger and her sister Frances.
She is survived by her brother Antonio “Tony” Garcia and wife Trudy, her children Christine Sotelo and husband Gus, Mark Rodarte, Lori Gallegos and Renee Rodarte, all from Albuquerque, her aunts Cleo Jeantette and Ruby Trujillo, both from Taos. She was lovingly called Nana Honey and has 3 grandchildren: Ryan Sotelo and wife Renee from Queen Creek AZ, Jennifer Sotelo and Savannah Bullock from Albuquerque. She has 7 great-grandchildren: Lorenzo Sotelo and Alyssa Sotelo-Dilley and husband Richard all from AZ, Tyson Mosqueda, Jett Mosqueda and fiancé Amanda, and Dylan Mosqueda all from Albuquerque, the boy’s dad, Juan Mosqueda from Chandler AZ and Iyla Honey Duran (due in October} and Evan Mosqueda. She also is survived by 2 sisters-in-law: Rose Boehme from CA and Sandra Rodarte-Sanchez and husband Manuel from Albuquerque. She is also survived by many, many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was always busy and was seldom sitting still. If someone saw her sitting, they questioned if she was feeling ill. She was one of the only ones who worked while in high school. When she married Don on February 15, 1958, she quit working and became a full-time mother. When her children were grown, she returned to working part-time. She retired from work and watched her grandchildren. Of all her names, Nana Honey was her most cherished. She was so excited to welcome her 6th grandchild, Iyla in October. Her best friend was her great- grandson Tyson, who made the last years of Honey’s life filled with love and laughter. We have many, many treasured videos of her acting goofy and funny.
Dorothy always had a smile and funny stories for her family and people she met. She was funny, sassy, sweet, had a huge heart and was very loving. Her passing is a huge loss to our family, and she will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 18th at St Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 3424 4th St. NW, Albuquerque New Mexico 87107. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 A.M. with Mass of Christian burial to follow.
We love you so much and miss you every second of every day, but know you are no longer in pain and are always with us.
