Obituary of Valentina T. Garcia
Valentina T. Garcia, 31, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, went to rest peacefully on September 25, 2023.
She was born in Albuquerque, on Valentine’s Day, 1992 to Michael and Josie Garcia at Carrie Tingley Hospital. Valentina immediately began her life by leaving a lasting impression on those who knew her as a fighter. Friends and acquaintances would say she had a smile that was hard to forget and made you want to smile too. It never mattered to Valentina how old you were, how much money you had, what you looked like, you were her friend.
Valentina was an inspiration to many. She pursued a variety of interests including dancing at Keshet dance studio, participating in Special Olympics, shopping at the mall with her friends, creating art, reading, crafts, international travel, attending concerts, enjoying movies, teaching catechism classes, participating in Girl Scouts and anything else she could be involved in. Valentina never let a wheelchair stop her from going somewhere or doing something that she wanted to do. She had a smile, a hug, and a goofy joke, for whoever helped her along the way. She loved all of her friends, family, and animals that she knew and saw at her activities.
Valentina was preceded in death by her grandparents (José “Joe” and Maria Elba Garcia) and by her nephew (Thabian Gonzales), and is survived by her parents (Michael and Josie Garcia), siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a whole collection of friends that will forever remember their friend Valentina, who had a smile that made you want to smile too.
The Rosary and Vigil for Valentina will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 6:30pm at Shrine of Saint Bernadette (11509 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112), and the Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday October 19, 2023, at 10:00am at Holy Child Mission Carnuel (16926 Frontage Rd., Albuquerque, NM 87123) burial to follow in Cedro.
