Obituary of Gilbert Sandoval

Gilbert Sandoval, A lifelong resident of Tijeras, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023. He was born on June 23, 1932, to Tonia and Clarence Sandoval. He is survived by his Children: one son; Gilbert Sandoval Jr., five daughters; Marcella (Johnny Griego), Vera (Danny Jaramillo), Linda Sandoval, Sandra (Kevin Berget) and Clara (Stan Benavidez); and 20 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ethel Armenta Sandoval, his parents, and his three brothers: Quinto, Isidoro, Mariano and one sister; Stella Chavez. Also, many members of the Armenta Family including his father-in-law and mother-in-law Jacobo and Margarita Armenta.

Gilbert retired from NMDOT where he worked for over thirty years. In 1998 he established Gil's Bobcat Service, where he proudly served the East Mountain communities.   

Services will be held on Saturday, October 28th, at John XXIII Catholic Community Church, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE, A Rosary to be held at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Interment will follow at Tijeras Cemetery.

Pallbearers are his grandsons: Robert Berget, Carlos Sandoval, Christopher Jaramillo, Travis Davis, Gilbert Sandoval III, Shawn Berget, Jonah Adams, and Gavin Benavidez.

Honorary Pallbearers are Matt Sr., Mattie, Marcus and Matthew Armenta, Gilbert Torres Sr., Jesus Jimenez, Tony Garza, Jimmy Chavez, and Joe Bridge.
