Obituary of Adan Y Garza

Adan Y Garza, 82 years old, Belen, NM passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Born September 13, 1941, Karnes, TX. Son of Anastacio Garza and Maria Ybarra Garza.

Adan was from Karnes, TX. He traveled to Mississippi when he was 12 years old and worked in the cotton field. He learned how to operate a tractor at the age of 12 and moved to Socorro, NM at the age of 18. Adan worked in the minefields at age 18, located in Socorro, NM. From 19-24 years old, he lived in Lockney, TX working on the Karton Farm. At 25 yrs. Old, he moved to Albuquerque and became a Heavy Equipment Operator. At 27 yrs. old, he participated in the Heavy Equipment Rodeo and won 1st Place by picking up a quarter with a bucket for Co-Con Company. At the age of 38, he worked at Ken Knowlin as an equipment operator. He Also, worked at New Concept and he was their number one operator for 12 yrs, with Mr. Schumacker. In his mid 40’s Adan opened 2 businesses, one beauty salon located in ABQ, NM. One cleaning company located in Silver City & ABQ. Adan was a committed member of Valley Baptist Church in Belen, NM. 

Adan is preceded in death by parents Anastacio Garza and Maria Ybarra, brothers: Adolfo Garza (Chico), Jenaro Garza, Epifanio Garza, Reynaldo Garza (Nino) and grandsons Carlos Garza and Jonathan Garza.

Those left to cherish his memory are siblings Louisa Montoya, Anita Ruiz, Eva Munoz, Elida Garza, Teodoro Garza, Anastacio Garza Jr., Adan Barrera.

Four children: Adan A Garza Jr., Helen Marie Garza(Martin Lopez) Rebecca Ann Garza Williams (Terry Williams) Roberta Ann Kay Garza(Todd Kay) Paul Adan Garza(Alison Wolfe)

Fifteen grandchildren: Lizzie G, Dakota G, Angelique G, Ashley G, Jerry W, Joshua G(Raquel G), Savannah W, Marquise W, Maurice W, Markus W, Jose G, Alexander G, Da’Ryus K, Aliah G, Rylee G.

Seven great grandchildren: Deangelo, Anayjah, Aamiyah, Shawndre, Cassiay, Jaylah and Joziah.

Viewing services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 12:00pm-2:00pm, Riverside Funeral Home, 820 Main St. NE., Los Lunas, NM 87031, (505) 226-9092.

Final resting place service will be held on October 31, 2023, at 12:00pm, noon at Fairview Cemetery located at 700 Yale Blvd. SE.
