In Loving Memory of Jeremiah (Jay) James Montoya
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeremiah (Jay) James Montoya, a cherished Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Nino, and Uncle. Jay, as he was affectionately known, departed this world on October 29, 2023, at the age of 36. He was born on July 11, 1987, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and his journey in this world was marked by love, laughter, and service.
Jay's life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his country. He proudly served in the United States Army, dedicating himself to the cause of freedom and security. His service included two courageous tours in Afghanistan as an infantryman, where he exhibited bravery and resilience in the face of adversity.
In 2010, Jay's life took a beautiful turn when he met and married the love of his life, Ashley, in Louisiana. Their love story was a testament to the power of true partnership and devotion. Together, they welcomed their precious daughter, Scarlett May Montoya, into the world in Germany in December 2012. The arrival of Scarlett brought immeasurable joy to Jay's life, and she became the shining light that illuminated his every day.
Jay's military career was a source of immense pride and accomplishment for him. He earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors, culminating in his honorable medical retirement from service in June 2015 with the rank of E6. His dedication and sacrifice in service to his country will forever be remembered.
Beyond his military life, Jay had a deep passion for exploring the world with his beloved family. Traveling allowed him to create treasured memories with his wife and daughter, experiencing the wonders of the world together. Ashley was not just his wife; she was his rock, his confidant, and his best friend. Their bond was unbreakable, a testament to the enduring power of love.
Jay's infectious humor and warm spirit made him the family clown, always ready to bring laughter and joy to those around him. His presence at gatherings was a guarantee of smiles and lightheartedness, and his legacy as a source of laughter will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Jay leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish the memories they created with him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ashley Montoya, and their precious daughter, Scarlett Montoya. His parents, Mike and Kathy Montoya, and his sisters, Miranda and Consuelo Montoya, also mourn his loss, alongside his Goddaughter Amari Montoya, his niece AyAnna (Brookie), his Godson Xander Christophe, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Jay's remarkable life will take place on November 15, 2023, at 13:00, at 5721 Rio Animas, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144. This gathering will be an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share stories, and celebrate the extraordinary journey of a man who touched the lives of so many.
Additionally, a private celebration of Jay's life will be held at Granite Ranch in Junction, Texas, on November 18, 2023. It is there that his military comrades will gather to honor his memory and celebrate the lasting impact he had on their lives and on his country.
Jay Montoya's legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering commitment, his infectious laughter, and the love he shared with his family. Though he has gained his wings, his spirit will live on, reminding us of the power of love, laughter, and service.
