Jean Salazar Perea, 85, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Born in Hedley, TX on July 7, 1938, to Ernest Cleon Allee and Oneta Mae Posey (Sams), Dorothy Jean settled in Albuquerque about 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Nelda and Wanda, and two brothers, Howard and Bobby. Surviving is her sister Jane Tatman (John) of Lumberton, TX.
Jean met and married her first husband who preceded her in death, Schubert Salazar (m. 1954; dec.1974). Surviving daughters are Sharon Salazar, Debbie Santillanes (Mike) and Linda Ryan (Mike) and son Keith Salazar (Berta), all of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her son Brian Salazar and granddaughter Candis Ryan.
Jean was then blessed to marry her second husband, also preceding her in death, Benito Perea (m.1977; dec.2018). His surviving daughters are Anita Valdez (Roy), Bernadette Duran (David) and Christine Perea (Flo). Preceding in death were two sons, David and Patrick Perea and great grandson Emmitt.
With her blended family of 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, who all knew her as “Nanny”, she enjoyed baking and making crafts with and for them whenever she could. Each of them was very special to her.
Jean is also survived by several nieces and nephews who will always carry fond memories of her.
Jean retired from JC Penney after 20+ years of service in the Catalogue Department. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. Her roses were her pride and joy.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
