Obituary of Sandra Jo Jackson
On November 2, 2023, Sandra Jo Jackson, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at her home, after 77 years of living life to the fullest. She had been battling cancer for four years and never let it slow her down. Sandra (or Sandy as she was known by friends and family) will be dearly missed by many. She was born on September 11, 1946, in Lubbock, Texas to Lawrence Wilburn and Edna Doris (Sparlin) Jackson.
Sandy’s early childhood was spent in Texas, Japan and California (her dad was air force). She met her first husband, John LaBombard, at Vandenberg A.F.B. and followed him to Puerto Rico, back to California and eventually settled in Michigan for a decade before traveling to her favorite place- New Mexico.
Along with raising a family of four, Sandy was also a beautician, a waitress, a security guard and enjoyed over 35 years as a Mary Kay Consultant.
She was a wonderful mom, friend, hostess, grandma, great-grandma and center of the community. Sandy never met a stranger and everyone who knew her is blessed with her energy.
She enjoyed hiking in the mountains near Santa Fe, baking cookies with her kids (and then her grands), crafting and playing card games.
Sandy is survived by her husband, John Williams and precious pup, Monty Cocoa Beans; her sister, Teresa Reece (Corki) of Lompoc, CA; her four children, Julie LaBombard of Santa Fe, NM, Barbara Williams of Quitman, TX, Lawrence LaBombard of Phoenix, AZ and John LaBombard Jr of Santa Fe, NM; son-in-law, Mark Williams, daughter-in-law, Julie (Rill) LaBombard; twelve grandchildren, Amanda Pierce, Sara Duck, Nicole Peña, Daniel Duck, Renée Roybal, Tré LaBombard, Shayna Roybal, Stephanie Duck, Joshua LaBombard, Luke LaBombard, Kaylie LaBombard, Napayshni LaBombard; and seven great-grandchildren, Laila Bernadino, Julian Bernadino, Rayen Chavez, Dahlia Duck, Bailey Duck, Wayne Duck and Lily LaBombard.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, LW and Doris.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please consider making a donation to the Mary Kay Ash Foundation.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on November 24, 2023 (the day after Thanksgiving- a family favorite holiday) in the Community Center at Blue Agave Villas (formerly known as Vista Grande), Rio Rancho from 1-4pm. Family and friends are welcome!
