Obituary of Diane Semmler
On November 4th2023, Diane (Ruppel) Semmler passed away at the age of 77.
Diane was born September 18th, 1946 in Passaic, New Jersey to Edward and Josephine Ruppel. On July 2nd 1965 she married Alfred J Semmler. She gave birth to Dawn then Robert before moving to Rio Rancho, New Mexico in 1975. She finally found her stride working for Ken Schultz Buick as an accountant, followed by Stewart and Stevenson, then finally at Advanced Communications.
While Diane could be seen as curt and business oriented while working, she was willing to share her stories. The whole family loved the great outdoors and she quickly fell in love with New Mexico’s wide-open spaces and plethora of wildlife. She worked with Wildlife Rescue to rehab all kinds of birds. She loved bird watching and traveled to add many new bird to her life list. She also loved gardening and feeding the many hummingbirds that visited the house.
Diane is survived by her two brothers Doug and Bruce and her two children Dawn and Robert, and her two grandchildren Michael and Haley. In lieu of a funeral her last wish was to have her ashes brought to the Bosque del Apache so that she could share her love of birdwatching to all her loved ones. Please email dehmar9@yahoo.com for information on that trip (likely to happen late next year). Any donations should also be made to the Bosque del Apache (https://friendsofbosquedelapache.org/donate-now/) in lieu of flowers.
