Desmond Stanley Henry passed away peacefully at home, where he wanted to be, with family members by his side on November 18, 2023.
He was born in New York State in 1935. Desmond spent his childhood in Newfield, New York with three siblings and many relatives and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. The New York Yankees was always his favorite major league team.
In 1955 he enlisted in the United States Army and spent several years in the infantry. Upon discharge, he went to barber school and remained in that profession the rest of his life. He practiced in New York until moving to New Mexico in 1969, where he owned his own shop for many years. He spoke highly of his fellow barbers and his many faithful customers until retirement in 2022.
Desmond is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Mary Lou and seven wonderful children: Terry, Todd, Desiree, Maureen, Maria, Brian, and Brett. He was a devoted husband and father and also enjoyed his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
