It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear cousin, Sharon Brown, 58, after bravely battling a long illness. She died on October 25, 2023. Her passing, while deeply mourned, brings an end to her suffering.
Sharon dedicated many years of her life as an Archaeologist, meticulously ensuring cultural resources were preserved and protected. Her passion for preserving history was evident in her work and her commitment was unwavering. Later, she became affectionately known as the "Bird Lady," assuming the responsibility of overseeing efforts at PNM Resources to safeguard birds and their habitats in New Mexico, including those of endangered species and other protected areas she cherished. Sharon was an expert in her field of environmental project management.
Aside from her professional endeavors, Sharon was an avid animal lover, finding solace and joy in the company of her horses, dogs, chickens and fish. Her connection with animals was a testament to her compassionate nature.
Grateful for the support of family near and far, Sharon is survived by her niece and nephew, Emily Brown Klingenhutz and Ryan Brown of Minnesota. She also leaves behind beloved Aunt Margaret Miller and cousins Joanne Miller of Colorado Springs, Allison Rimland of Denver, Suzanne Quentin of Fairfax, CA, and beloved Aunt Annie Brown in Florida. Sharon's expanded legacy includes dear friends within her professional community and extended family in Florida, including Sarah Brown, Louis Ray, John Ray, and Grace Brown.
A service will be held outdoors, details TBD.
In memory of Sharon's love for animals and dedication to nature conservation, the family kindly requests that donations be made to an Animal Charity or Conservation Organization of your choice in her honor.
Sharon's passion for preserving history and protecting the environment touched countless lives. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so freely shared.
