Obituary of Clara Otero

Clara B Otero 88, was called home by our Heavenly Father on June 8, 2021.  Born August 12, 1932 in Albuquerque NM Clara was the oldest child of Max and Lupe Baca.  She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School and The College of St. Joseph’s.  It is at The College where she met her beloved husband Frank.  Clara went on to be an educator for 30 plus years at Kit Carson and Mountain View Elementary Schools.  She was also very active with her church, Queen of Heaven.  She was a member of the Spanish Choir, a Eucharist Minister, taught catechism, was involved in the RCIA program, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Clara and Frank built a beautiful life together for 55 years.  They raised three wonderful children, adored two beautiful grandchildren, traveled the world with friends, and took joy in time spent with family and friends.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Don, sister Flora Parras, and her parents Max and Lupe Baca.

She is survived by her daughters Cheryl Cardona (René) and Francine, two grandchildren Francisco and Andrea Cardona, four brothers Fernando Baca, Wilfred Baca (Lola), David Baca, Albert Baca (Linda), and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Clara was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was full of love, compassion, humor, grace and beauty.  Even though she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in her later years, she did not let that steal her zest for life.  She would always greet you with a smile and was always ready to enjoy some ice cream.
