Obituary of Amalia Buendia Haight

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, Amalia Buendia Haight, a loving wife, and mother of three children passed away at the age 91.

Amalia was born on October 24, 1930, in Madrid, Spain. She met her late husband, Benjamin Robert Haight in Madrid, while he was stationed there with the US Air Force. After several double dates and knowing that it was a love that would last a lifetime, they married. Being a devoted wife to a man in uniform, they traveled the world together and were married for 44 years. She left her caring parents and siblings in Spain and her life was forever changed.

Benjamin and Amalia moved to Albuquerque in 1975. She is survived by her children Pilar Sicola and husband Todd, Michael Haight and wife Kimberly, Anna Adkins and husband David. Amalia has eight grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her 5 siblings, Alfredo, Gloria, Elena, Federico, and Maria Carmen.

She loved the Lord and prayed diligently for her children and loved ones. She loved to crochet. Being with and feeding her family was her delight.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at New Covenant Church at ten o’clock a.m. in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
