Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Brown

Mary Elizabeth (Spires) Brown went to Heaven on Sunday, August 12, 2012. She was born August 16, 1914, in Fisher County, Texas, to Lester Calvin and Florence Belle (Greear) Spires. Mary had three brothers who preceded her in death, Clyde, George and Ernest. When she was 14 months old, the family moved to Roosevelt County near Portales, New Mexico. Mary was the Valedictorian of her 8th grade class at Kentucky Valley School in Roosevelt County. On October 29, 1932, she married Ferris Herd Brown in Portales, and they were married for sixty-two years. He preceded her in death in 1993. Mary and Ferris lived in Portales until 1955 when they moved to Albuquerque. They lived in the South valley until 2005 when she moved to Westwind House. Mary was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting and jewelry making. She was a member of Valley Christian Church and is survived by a large loving family who affectionately called her "Auntie" as well as many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Valley Christian Church, located at 2850 Gun Club Rd. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121, at 10:00AM, on Saturday, August 18, 2012.
