Obituary of Roberto M Barela

Roberto M Barela, age 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 23, 2013. He left peacefully as his loving wife of 64 years Viola, read the 23rd psalm to him. Roberto was a wonderful Husband, Father, and Brother, Grandpa, Uncle and friend. He was born in Tome NM on November 9, 1928 To Tomas and Rebecca Barela. Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Genoveva & Jose Chavira and siblings, Emma & Joe Jaramillo, Aurelio Barela, Paul & wife Margaret Barela, Edwin and Esquipula Skippy Barela. Roberto is survived by his wife, Viola Barela; sons, Bobby and wife Maria Barela from Belen, NM, Jerry Barela from Tierra Amarilla, NM, Marty and wife Lisa Barela from Albuquerque; grandchildren, Greg and Sandra Hobbs, Cecilia and Daniel Vazquez-Rodriguez, Yvette and Greg Richardson, Sarah, Roberto, Martin, Olivia and James Barela, Billy Hall, Chris and Melissa Vasquez; great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Connor Hobbs, Shayla ,Skyler, Gunner Richardson, and Jade Hall, Kristen, Nicole, Meghan, Emily, Christian, Nathan, Grace, Katherine and Joshua Vasquez. He is also survived by Inlaws, Mary Pino & Ernie, Orlando & Lourdes Armijo, Ambrosio & Mamie Armijo, Ernesto Armijo, Tony & Rosina Armijo, Betty Barela, and Virginia Barela; cousin, Comadre Maria Otero and many nieces and nephews who were all very loved as well as his Church Family whom he loved dearly. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above all. He also loved to hunt and fish, travel with his wife, be with his family. He enjoyed going out and eat and he enjoyed a good meal. When asked if he needed anything, he would always say Bring Bananas. He was a jack of all trades and mastered them all. Roberto loved to sing Happy Birthday to all his loved ones. He was a Royal Ranger Commander for many years and had a passion to help young boys become good Christian men. He had many church children and grandchildren. Roberto had a gentle and loving spirit and could always make you smile. He will be missed dearly. Sincere thanks to Albuquerque Veterans Hospital, Doctors for excellent care, special thanks to the fifth floor Step-down Unit nurses and MICU nurses for their excellent care and making his last week's comfortable. We really appreciate everything you did for our father. We will never forget.
