Obituary of Troy F Crownover

Troy F Crownover Jr, age 76, of Albuquerque, NM, entered into rest, Tuesday April 9th, 2013 due to congestive heart failure. He was born Carl Walter Harmon, to parents, Clyde Harmon and Dorothy Cleave, in Port Arthur, Texas. His siblings were 4 sisters, Dorothy, Betty, Jeannine and Judy, and 1 brother, Clyde Harmon, Jr. Although having met them as a young man, their whereabouts or whether living or dead is not presently known. At age 5 he was legally adopted by Troy F Crownover Sr (who called him Shorty) and Viola Ames Crownover (who liked calling him Sonny.) Troy is survived by his wife, Patsy of 57 years, (who called him Steve since that was the name Troy liked using at the time he met her in Houston, TX.) He is also survived by a fine son he loved and respected so much, Jason Adam Crownover, his wife, Stephanie and their son, Jensen Reed Crownover, of North Richland Hills, TX. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerry Dea, stillborn at 8 months and a precious, loving son, Jensen Allen Crownover, age 36. Troy was a loving, devoted husband and father who was loved dearly and respected by many. He will be greatly missed. In his younger years, Troy helped his adoptive parents with their dairy farming and raising chickens in the Baytown area and later in the Centerville area of Texas. He was an athlete in school, very popular as a HS football and basketball star and all the community thought he was a fine fellow and many helped him in his HS years. He attended the Methodist church and was baptized, serving as one of the vocalists in church and many community and school functions as needed. A more beautiful singing voice could not be heard in his younger years. When graduating from Centerville HS, he moved to Houston, TX where he met Patsy at Little York Baptist Church, married there and then joined the Air Force to further his education. He served 4 years as a drill instructor in Texas and in Strategic Air Command, in Guam. After the Air Force he started a career with Trans Texas Airlines as a ramp agent in Pt. Arthur, TX. Trans Texas Airline became Texas International Airlines, which later bought and took the name Continental Airlines. His career of 35 years with the airline, allowed him advancement opportunities in a career he loved. When he retired he had been a Regional VP after many years serving as station manager in Pt. Arthur, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and Albuquerque. His expertise was used in operations to open new stations and close some stations as the market would demand. He was excellent in design needs for ticket counters, gate operations, ramp safety and hiring managers and personnel for stations around the system including new terminals built as the airline expanded their services throughout the states. He received many awards during his career for a job well done and earned the title, "Colonel" by his "troops" (co-workers). In his retirement years when his health allowed, he and Patsy spent time traveling via RV'ing and often would introduce himself to folks he met, as "Colonel." Troy was blessed with Gods sustaining grace and all his life and his health maintained by very good medical care for so many years. It was his wish to "give back" to the medical field by donating his body to the UNM Medical School. Thankfully, his body was accepted. It was also his wish not to have a formal service unless his immediate family needed that for closure. Their peace and comfort comes in knowing that Troy is no longer struggling in this life and is now at rest. He died with dignity and told his wife, before passing, "I'm in heaven." What greater comfort and blessing could there be knowing we shall meet again someday. It is their wish for no flowers to be sent to console them, but rather as Troy expressed if someone wanted to honor his memory do so with cards of condolence to his loved ones, c/o PO Box 20952, Albuquerque, NM 87154-0952 or memorial gifts sent to the Wounded Warriors Project.org or Hop
