Obituary of Ralph Eugene Duran

Ralph Eugene Duran, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2007, at the age of 49 following a brief illness. He was born on September 16, 1957 in Fairview, NM to Joe A. Jr. and Adela Duran. Ralph graduated from West Las Vegas High School, class of 1976, where he was an outstanding athlete in football and track and field. He established many athletic records that still have not been broken to this day. Ralph served proudly in the Untied States Army and was honorably discharged. He was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Duran Marquez; his paternal grandparents, Jose A. and Mary Duran; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Senaida Griego; and special aunt and uncle, Robert and Eppie Duran. Ralph is survived by his wife, Shalene; and children, James, Joshua, Jeremy, Jacob, and Jolene of Farmington, NM; sons, Kennth Pacheco of Las Vegas, NM, Nathan Martinez of Albuquerque, NM, and Joseph Duran and Jonathan Duran of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Keith and Kennth Pacheco of Las Vegas, NM; parents, Joe A. Jr. and Adela Duran of Rio Rancho, NM; brothers, Jimmy Duran of Farmington, Sam Duran and wife, Sarah of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Barbara Duran Urioste and husband, Ruben of Rio Rancho, NM; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles from Las Vegas, NM and Pueblo, CO, and friends. A viewing will be held on Thursday February 22, 2007 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited following viewing. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2007 at St. Thomas of Acquinas Church at 1594 Sara Rd. Procession will follow after Mass to Ribera NM.
