Obituary of Eva Fekete

Eva was born on April 8, 1924 in Szekesfehervar, Hungary to Maria Perenyi Filipecz and Denes Filipecz. She died of natural causes on Saturday, March 9th, 2013 at 11:35am in Albuquerque, New Mexico after the last note of her favorite classical piece, Johann Strauss' Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz. She was predeceased by her brother, Denes Filipecz, Jr. and by her ex-husband and father of her four children, Laszlo Andras Fekete, an engineer and inventor, also of Hungary. Eva received a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture and Viniculture from the Royal Hungarian Horticulture College in Budapest in 1946 and was recognized with a commemorative ceremony upon the 50th anniversary in 1996. She worked in Houston as a floral designer and horticulturist prior to starting her own design and consulting venture, EuroGardens, until her retirement. Eva was an avid naturalist early on supporting the whole food and yoga movements. She was constantly researching improved mind, body, and spirit information and even providing natural sauerkraut for one of the earliest Whole Food Markets in Houston in the 1980's. She attributed her boundless energy, beaming health, and unbridled enthusiasm to organic food diet and yoga disciplines. She was a true renaissance woman of old world elegance and style. Eva married Laszlo Andras (Lancelot Andrew) Fekete in Brussels, Belgium in 1950 and they moved to Venezuela where he worked as a geologist for Shell and in addition, had a gold and diamond mining operation. As a sideline, they started a short lived poultry farming venture in the interior of Venezuela. Their first three children were born in Venezuela and after a political change in the country, they returned to Europe on a cruise ship. They visit family members throughout Europe and traveled for two years until boarding another ocean liner, the Leonardo DaVinci, out of Genoa, Italy bound for New York and eventually settled the family in Houston, Texas in 1961, because of the burgeoning petroleum industry. Eva is survived by her four children; Lancelot Alexander Fekete currently of Albuquerque, Gabriel Matthew Seabright Fekete of Grant's Pass, Oregon, Julia Maria Cecilia Fekete Nemethy (spouse Les Andrew Nemethy) of Budapest, Hungary, and Elizabeth Margaret Fekete of Boston, Massachusetts. Eva leaves four grandchildren; Alexander DeWitt Fekete (spouse Quinn Butler Fekete) in Albuquerque, Jessica Eve Fekete Bruels (spouse Ryan Bruels) in San Franscico, Leslie Alexander Nemethy in Toronto, and Emese Bartha Seabright Fekete in Budapest. She also has three great grandchildren in Albuquerque; Braden, Gedeon, and Kuenzler Fekete. Eva will be missed as she lived her life, from all over the world.
