Obituary of Phillip C Gonzales

Gonzales, Phillip C., 56, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM was born on September 27, 1956 and passed on Friday, August 23, 2013. Phillip is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Julia A. Gonzales; six children, Joseph T. Gonzales and wife, Victoria, Roseanna Gonzales, Nicholas Gonzales, Louis Gonzales, Valerie Gonzales, and Rebecca Gonzales; mother, Julia M. Gonzales; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Julie and Andrew Gonzales, and Mauro A. Prieto; brothers, David Gonzales and wife, Sue, Chris Gonzales and wife, Kim, and Gary Gonzales; sisters, Barbara Chavez, Mary Reider, and Helen Johnson and husband, Mark; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Louis J. Gonzales; brothers, Rick Gonzales and Paul Gonzales. Phillip passed away due to complications from kidney failure. A devoted parishioner for thirty years at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church he volunteered for many years as an Altar Server Coordinator, teacher, and assistant director of religious education, Eucharistic Minister, and Sacristan. Phillip was recently reinstated into the Knights of Columbus Phillip served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. In prior years he was a school crossing guard and president of the Athletic Association. Phillip had coached various YAFL and AYSO teams and was an avid St. Pius Athletic Booster. "Phil is hilarious" said one of the many students he taught how to drive at TLC Driving School which he has owned since 2000. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 5:00 PM, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, located at 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM. Final visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 9:30 AM also at the Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM with Father Jerry Mueller, presider. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Johnson, Ron Gonzales, Anthony Chavez, Dominic Gonzales, Michael Reider, Mauro Prieto, Michael Maldonado, and Israel Luna. Honorary pallbearers are John Gonzales, James Reider, Manuel Maldonado, Nathan Gonzales, and Isaiah Gonzales.
