Obituary of Esther Naomi Hazlett

Esther Naomi (Roesch) Hazlett, 87, fell asleep in the arms of our Lord at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 19, 2012. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 26, 2012 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Milan, New Mexico, followed by an 11:00 AM "Celebration of Life" Service and Interment at Grants Memorial Park. Esther was born June 20, 1925 in McClave, Colorado. She grew up on a farm with three sistersâ€Uella, Ilah and Lelaâ€and one brother, George. Esther loved her home, family and life. Her father, Marion Roesch, was a Pastor of the Dunkard Brethren Church near McClave. Esther graduated from La Junta High School and was married to Dwight Hopkins Hazlett in 1943. They enjoyed forty-nine wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1992. Dwight and Esther moved their family to New Mexico in 1962, when Dwight found employment in the Uranium Mines. They loved their seven children and set sound standards for them, with strong commitment to God and Country, strong work ethics, love of adventure, rocks, animals and the outdoors. Life was not always easy, but "Home" was a place of love, laughter, singing and fun. As the family grew, Esther thanked the Lord and actively lived her faith. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew her. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight; parents, Marion and Ardus Roesch; siblings Lela Beegles and George Roesch. She is survived by her sisters, Uella Yost of Ohio, and Ilah Crisp and her husband Jim of Colorado; her children, Peggy Jordan and her husband Bob, Carol Rhodes and her husband Leslie, Marilyn Whitley and her husband Steve, Emma Bodley and her husband Kevin, Eva Sanchez and her husband Rusty, Dwight Ernest Hazlett and his wife Darlene, and Susan Labbe and her husband Richard; thirty-five grandchildren and their spouses, forty-six great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Pallbearers, representing each of her children's family will be, Michael Naus, Lonny Rhodes, David Whitley, Jeremy Bodley, Aaron Sanchez, and Eric Bainbridge. Honorary pallbearers are Benjamin Hazlett, Sam Ballard, Tom Cote, Shawn Scheffer, Jason, Justin and James Bodley, Joshua Labbe and Chris Evans.
