Obituary of Carol Chenault Martinez

Our beloved daughter, mother and friend, Carol, has gone to be with our Lord after battling a short illness. Carol is survived by her daughter, Emily Martinez, former husband, Ron Martinez, father, Robert Chenault, uncle and aunt David and Karen Wilson, cousins Michael, Ben and Sam Wilson and other extended family, as well as countless friends who loved her so much. Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Wilson Chenault, grandparents Alice and Norwyn Wilson, uncle Richard Wilson, and grandparents Grover and Dorothy Chenault. Carol was born in Princeton, Kentucky. She lived in Kentucky until age 3, when she moved to Iowa. She later moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1980. She graduated from Highland High School in 1989, and attended TVI for several years. Carol worked many years as a sous chef in restaurant kitchens and for the Catholic Archdiocese as a private cook. She was known to cook the most delicious dishes. She met her former husband, Ron Martinez, in 1989. They moved to Oregon in 1998. Their daughter, Emily, was born in 2002 and was her mother's pride and joy. Her family moved back to Albuquerque soon after. Carol's father, Bob, moved in with Carol and Emily in 2009. Carol put her culinary skills to good use, always cooking for her dad, Emily and her friends. Carol made sure to instill her love of learning in her daughter and always encouraged her to be successful in school. Carol was always the life of the party, with her loving spirit, beautiful smile and incredible sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by us all!
