Obituary of Susan J Nance

Susan J. Nance, age 65, a loving wife, sister, and friend passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 15, 2014. Sue was born November 5, 1948 the eldest of two daughters to Howard and Earthel and grew up on or near US Air Force bases in Oklahoma, Arizona, and California. She went to high school in Rancho Cordova, CA and college in Sacramento, CA. Sue found her way to Albuquerque around 1977. Although her family still lived in Rancho Cordova, CA Sue loved New Mexico and did not want to live any place else. She met Fred in 1985 and they have been together ever since. Sue became a part of Fred's family here in Albuquerque and learned to make tortillas and the best red chile in the world from Fred's mom, Ida. She and Fred loved Nascar and went to the Phoenix race annually for many years. Sue was an avid reader, excellent, excellent cook, won awards for her cross stitch entries at the NM State Fair, and loved driving her blue 911. Sue's last job was as a Human Resources manager. She was tough but much liked and respected, and stayed friends with many co-workers through the years. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Earthel and mother-in-law, Ida; and dog, Sydney. She is survived by her husband, Fred; daughter, Nikki; son, Cody; sister, Betsy and husband, Eric; sister-in-law Barbara and husband Eric; half-sister, Shirley and husband, Dan; and her dog, Sunny. Sue is already greatly missed and still loved. A memorial gathering of friends will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Please call (505) 235-1158 for more information.
