Obituary of Rudy Dale Sutton

Rudy Dale Sutton passed from this earth onto the next great gig in the sky on Thursday, May 8, 2014. An Army Vietnam veteran from 1969-1972 he spent the majority of his life as an Albuquerque resident. Born in Wichita, Kansas, on September 17, 1950 to Billie C. Sutton and Gladys Williams, he was one of four children. The last living relatives are his wife, Marilyn Gail, daughters, Christina Renee and Jessie Sarah, brother, Galen, brother-in-law, Terry West, nephew, Sean Harris, and son-in-law E.J. Gallas. He was one-of-a-kind; the family joke was God broke the mold after making him because two would be too many. A rare mix of charm and humility, powerful and self-sacrificing, responsible and carefree, he was a force to be reckoned with. He had a deep love for his family, evergreens, pecan pie, the beach, his dogs, palm trees, the Sandias, coffee and the blues. He had two green thumbs and literally grew an oasis in the desert. Rudy was a dedicated family man that worked long and hard to provide all he could for his wife and daughters. A jack-of-all-trades and a master of most, he had many small business ventures and was an avid collector for many of his hobbies. With a wicked sense of humor, the gift of gab and an arsenal of sarcasm, he was an excellent storyteller who could amuse long into the night. He was a warrior, a king, a hero, a giant, and a legend. When he passed it felt like he took the air out of the room, we will be forever trying to catch our breath and hold him in, shine on, you crazy diamond. A life celebration will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Sutton residence. Please call Gail at 307-3520 or Renee at 304-4655 for details and directions. Arrangements entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque, 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE, (505) 764-9663.
