Obituary of Shirley Wickesberg

Shirley Wickesberg, age 76, loving mother and grandmother, passed into the presence of our Lord on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. She was born October 27, 1935 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and became the daughter of Jacob and Minnie Spear. Shirley worked as a secretary at Sandia Laboratories where she met her husband, Bruce, with whom she raised her loving family. She volunteered to work in charitable organizations and served a leadership role in the Sandia Labs Retiree Social Club, and was active in the Coronado Ski Club. Shirley found delight in helping friends, neighbors, and elderly who needed special care. She typed teaching materials and several books for Pastor Kurt Brink. Shirley loved reading, camping in the mountains, the Green Bay Packers, and traveling on vacations. She is survived by her daughter, Cathi Purcella and husband Gary; grandchildren, Derek, Ashley and Melissa; son, Brian Wickesberg and wife Rosa; grandchildren Tyler, Alex, and Aaron; sister Mazie Price, and sister in-laws Margie Spear, Janice Waltman and Sandy Wickesburg; brother in-laws Donald Wickesberg and wife Marnna, and Jerry Huhn. Shirley was an active member at Christ Lutheran Church, 7701 Candelaria Rd. NE, Albuquerque NM. Special thanks is extended for the excellent care she received from Pastor Neal Groeling, the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Cottages Alzheimer's Home, VistaCare Hospice, and Lovelace Women's Hospital.
