Obituary of Kathleen Boyce

Kathleen (Magrath) Boyce Albuquerque, N.M. – Services for Kathleen (Magrath) Boyce, 83, will be Saturday July 15, 2017 in Albuquerque. She died July 3, 2017, in Albuquerque. Kathleen was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Wahoo, Neb. to Paul and Edith (Warren) Koeller. She grew up in various Nebraska towns and Marysville, Kan. before the family settled in Arkansas City, Kan. where she attended middle school and high school. Kathleen was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority while attending Kansas State University where she met fellow student Joseph Magrath from McCook, Neb. Kathleen and Joseph married in 1953 and lived in Philadelphia, Pa. before living in Kearney, Neb. for a short time and settling in McCook where they operated The Great Plains Animal Hospital and raised a family of six. Kathleen lived in McCook from the late 1950s until 1977 when she moved to Albuquerque.  Kathleen worked in radio advertising sales in McCook and Albuquerque, followed by medical device sales. Kathleen married Harold Boyce in Hawaii in 1995 and enjoyed 10 years of retirement activities including traveling, playing cards, visiting with friends and wintering in Mesa, Arizona. Harold died in 2004. Friends and family recall her as an effervescent personality always on the move, outgoing, easy to talk to and willing to help others. She had a flair for personal fashion and jewelry, was independent-minded, and loved the sun and warm weather. Survivors include children Mike (Tammy) Magrath of Maumelle, Ark., Barney (Sarah) Magrath of Santa Fe, N.M., daughter-in-law Karla Magrath of Lynden, Wa., Sheila (Gerald) Bivens of Albuquerque, Larry (Lori) Magrath of Marshall, Mn., Monica (Raviv) Moore of Almeda, Ca., brothers Warren (Lynn) of Olathe, Kan., and Jon (Cheryl)  of Lenexa, Kan., 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol Jo (Hollembeak) Strange, Dr. Joseph Magrath, Harold Boyce, and son Stephen Mathew.  Arrangements entrusted to: Riverside Funeral Home of Santa Fe 3232 Cerrillos Road (505) 395-9150
