Obituary of John Vargas

Juan “Johnny/John” Vargas passed away in the early hours of April 23rd, 2022. He was 92 years old. Born to Julian and Modesta Vargas on February 17th, 1930, he is preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 4 sisters. In passing, Juan, more commonly referred to as John or Johnny, leaves behind his sister Isabel (Lizzy) Barreras and his loving wife of 66 years, Denise (Sandoval). Parent to two stepsons, Pedro Ray and Robert, Juan and Denise welcomed daughter Mary Ann (Garcia) in 1957. Grandfather to five and great-grandfather to two, all enjoyed spending time with Grandpa John. Conscientious and hardworking, John worked on projects and enjoyed being outside working in the yard. Retired from Utility Brick Company in 1995, Juan spent much of his time growing vegetables and fruits on “the rancho” in the South Valley. Grandpa John always enjoyed watching sports with family, especially professional wrestling, and was always equipped with candy or sweets. All will miss his authenticity, gentle ribbing, and sense of humor.
