Obituary of Margaret Ann Jenkins

Margaret Ann "Peggy" Horner-Jenkins passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Peggy was born on November 4, 1944, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Manuel Duarte Guerra and Mae Elizabeth (Boston) Guerra. Sisters, Betty and Helen, followed, respectively. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1946. Peggy attended St. Francis Catholic School for grades 1 - 8. After that, she attended and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1962. The graduating class just celebrated their 60th reunion. She was a junior varsity cheerleader. She worked in the Cashier's office at American Furniture for 10 years. Peggy then moved on to Albuquerque Federal Savings and Loan. After that, she worked at San Juan Community College for 12 years before moving to El Rancho, New Mexico. She retired, after 23 years, from Los Alamos Public School District as Payroll Supervisor.

During the 70's, Peggy spent her weekends at Speedway Park watching her ex-husband (Jim Horner/deceased), car racing. She made wonderful friends there, many of whom were still in contact with her. Later, she enjoyed being involved in water-skiing and a motorcycle club with her second (ex) husband, Tom Jenkins. Tom was also a part of the car racing crowd. Peggy has kept a close relationship with many childhood friends, and in more recent years (before the Pandemic), had taken annual trips with them to Puerta Penasco, Mexico. They have taken cruises together and regularly gather to reminisce. She also spent time in Hawaii where her (recently deceased) sister lived. Peggy never met a stranger. She would strike up a conversation with anyone she encountered. She had a funny and unique sense of humor. Her compassion and willingness to help anyone, endeared her to all who had the honor and pleasure to know her.

She is loved and will be missed by her many friends, co-workers, and stepchildren. Peggy LOVED frogs!! She has an extensive collection of yard frogs, frog statues, frog kitchenware, frog jewelry, frog trinkets, plush toys, and frog themed clothing. It made for easy gift giving and she would NOT contemplate getting rid of any frogs that had been given to her. They are all orphaned now and need new homes! Peggy is survived by her only son, Anthony Joseph "AJ" Horner (Brandy) of Bloomfield, New Mexico, her youngest sister, Helen Guerra, Brother-in-Law, Larry Oberman, niece, Donna and her 97-year-old, Aunt Nell. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her sister, Betty (Larry) Oberman of Keaau, Hawaii, and (just this past year) her beloved dog, BLUE. In lieu of flowers (which she loved dearly),

Peggy wishes that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
