Obituary of Maria Nestoria Castillo

Maria “Nester” Castillo (Nina) age 85, a loving Aunt and a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Wednesday January 25th, 2023, at her residence in Albuquerque, NM.

Aunt Nester is survived by her sister, Patricia Burlingame, two daughters, Kathy Trujillo and Debbie Maes, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, multiple nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Daniel M. Gonzales and Matilda C. Gonzales, her son Raymond Castillo and several siblings, Desi Gonzales, Julian & Angelica Gonzales, Anna and John Linthicum, Toni and Eddie Montano, and Eddie and Betty Gonzales.

Aunt Nester was born May 22nd, 1937, in Logan, New Mexico. She graduated from Logan High School in Logan, NM in 1955.

Aunt Nester was always cracking jokes. She had a hilarious sense of humor & sarcasm. She was also not one to be messed with. She was one tough lady! 

Her and her sister Patsy were inseparable. They lived together or awfully close by for 40+ years. Patsy will miss her dearly, as will the rest of us.

Aunt Nester was Nina to all of us. She loved her family, and her family loved her. She will be remembered fondly by all that knew her.
