Obituary of Bobby Joe Sanchez

Bobby Joe Sanchez of Albuquerque, New Mexico went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2023. He was born in Lubbock, TX to Sisto and Librada (Lillie) Sanchez on June 21, 1956. Bobby grew up in Roswell in a loving Christian home. He attended Del Norte Elementary School, Mesa Middle School and graduated from Goddard High School in 1974. He attended New Mexico Military Institute for two years and then attended the University of Wyoming where he graduated with his BA.

Bobby had an appreciation of learning and carried that with him as he became an educator. He taught school in Colorado for several years and eventually came back to Roswell to be a teacher with RISD. He was involved with the M.E.S.A. program in Roswell as well as Las Cruces. Bobby loved all things IT and later became a trainer on different computer programs with the state of NM until he retired.

Bobby had many hobbies such as traveling, reading, photography and had an appreciation of music. Bobby was an amazing saxophone player back in the day and had a wide collection of records and CD’s of different genre. He loved jazz and guitar and good ole’ rock and roll but his biggest hobby was the Renaissance period. He attended renaissance fairs when he could and had the outfit of the time complete with swords and a chain mail shirt which he hand made himself.

Bobby was very social and never met a stranger. He could speak to anybody and made friends quickly. Bobby had an amazing circle of friends at the Three Fountain Apartments where he resided. During his short time of retirement, Bobby found a love for baking. He would make baked goods for his friends weekly and never visited his family in Roswell without something he baked especially for us. He was proud of the fact he made everything from scratch.

Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Lillie Sanchez, sister Cindy Gomez, niece Angel Deschene and her husband David, children Chloe and Ethan, nephew Carlos Gomez, children Carlos Jr. and Aryelle and nephew Paul Gomez, children Kaleb, Jace and Anabelle.
