Karen Swafford Campbell

Obituary of Karen Ann Swafford Campbell

Karen Ann Swafford Campbell, 69, passed away at her home in
Albuquerque on November 21, 2023.
Karen, daughter of the late Col.Fred G Swafford Jr and Annie Lou "Nan"
Kirkpatrick Swafford, was born on December 6, 1953 in Berlin, Germany.
During her father's career with the US Army, the family moved
frequently and Karen graduated from Chofu High School in Tokyo, Japan.
Karen settled in New Mexico as her home base and never lost her free
spirited sense of adventure. She spent many years working in Real
Estate in the Albuquerque area. More recently, her favorite homes had
wheels, as she and her husband Kenny traveled in campers and RVs that
they had restored or customized. Those trips included car and camper
shows, exploring Arizona, Colorado, Old Rt 66, and her favorite:
visiting relatives in Missouri, Illinois, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
Karen enjoyed working with her friend and business partner Bev. She
made many happy memories with loved ones at Elephant Butte Lake. Her
German Shepard "Duke" had been a close companion. Karen always had a
lot of "irons in the fire" and we looked forward to hearing the latest
on her projects, clubs, and ideas. She was a trusted advisor and
mentor to her cousin Beth and sister-in-law Monique. To have a
conversation with Karen was to find yourself at ease and likely,
sharing a laugh. She was a kind, beautiful lady who will be remembered
with love.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brother Grant Swafford,
sister Sabrina Swafford, son Eric Campbell and grandson Dayton
Campbell.
She is survived by her beloved husband of twenty years Kenneth
Campbell, son Rob Campbell and wife April, grandson Dillon Campbell,
niece Megan Swafford, nephew Jacob Swafford, uncle Grover Hatch
Kirkpatrick and numerous other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Karen's life is being planned and details will be posted online
