Obituary of Nellie Betancourt

Nellie Betancourt, aged 84, peacefully passed away on December 11, 2023, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born on June 8, 1939, in Deming, NM, to the late Gertrude and Albert Rouse. Nellie was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Nellie is survived by her beloved husband, Gabriel Betancourt, and her cherished children, Sonny Betancourt and his wife Patsy Ligi, Whitney Betancourt and her partner Dustin Dade, Gabriel Gurule, Vanessa Betancourt and her partner Jon Burns. She leaves behind a treasured legacy through her grandchildren, Addie, Jeremy & April, Tristin & Lucas, Alik & Lashaya, TJ, Emily, Ashton, Brooklynn, Roman, Ryder, Presley, and Memphis. Nellie is also survived by her dear siblings, Larry & Louise, Taline & Rosie, Jessie & Jimmy, Susie, Eva & Richard, Lydia & Jodi, Stella, and Jimmy Borunda & their families, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Nellie's life was marked by her exceptional career as a nurse, where she selflessly cared for others with unwavering compassion. Nellie was renowned for her role as a nurturing mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved being in the PTA, being a Girl Scout leader, and an original member of the Presbyterian Auxiliary. Her love knew no bounds, and she provided unwavering support to those fortunate enough to have her in their lives. In her leisure time, Nellie found solace in her favorite pastimes. She delighted in the written word, finding great joy in reading. She enjoyed cooking and her family and friends were blessed to savor the delicious meals she prepared with love. Nellie always found fulfillment in lending a helping hand to those in need. A traditional celebration of Nellie's life will be held to honor her memory on Friday Dec 29th, 2023 at 10:00am at Riverside Funeral Home on San Mateo, allowing family and friends to gather together and share their treasured recollections of her. Her remarkable legacy of love and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Nellie Betancourt's profound impact on the lives she touched will be remembered and cherished for generations to come.
