Obituary of Michael Albert Abeyta

Michael Albert Abeyta, 69, resident of Albuquerque & originally from Peñasco NM, passed to eternal rest on January 4, 2024 from a battle with cancer.

A devoted musician and original guitarist for renowned Blue Ventures group and retired civil engineer from the NMDOT.

Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carolina Abeyta and brothers' Teddy Abeyta and sister, Deluvina Sanchez.  Beloved brother, father and husband to Cecilia Dominguez & son, Sean Abeyta, daughters Cathy Abeyta and Sarah Tarin and husband Carlos Tarin. Grandfather to Elayne-husband Henry Anaya, Sarah's children Carlos, Destiny, Alex, Alexis, Ariana and Cathy's son, Michael. Two great grandchildren, Mynika and baby Henry.  Beloved brother to Teresa Ortega, husband Felimon; Alex Abeyta and wife, Josie; Fabiola Edwards, Josephine Lucero, Helen Cordova and husband Roy; Rose Aguilar, Vincent Abeyta, Carlos and Ron Abeyta.
Michael was preceded in death by in-laws, Rosella Martinez, Leo, Atilano and Eddie Dominguez. He is survived by in-laws, Pete Dominguez, Edith and Ada Dominguez, Diana Lovato and Nancy Martinez, Louie Sanchez, Eliza Abeyta and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Services February 3, 2024 at Our Lady of the Assumption on the corner of Lomas/Tennessee in Albuquerque at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch to follow at the Veteran’s Memorial located at 1100 Louisiana SE.  Burial will be on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
