Olive was born in East Stroudsburg, PA, but lived in New Mexico for the past 62 years. She worked hard to support & care for her mother & daughter. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren & was then blessed to be able to see three great-grandchildren before she was called to her heavenly resting place. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catharine Stein Hay & and father, Walter Hay. Olive began working at the phone company in 1953 & worked for them in PA, AZ, NJ, and NM, retiring in 1983. Olive had a great love of music, playing her flute at many different churches throughout her lifetime. She was part of her high school Marching band. She also played piano and a little bit of guitar. Olive enjoyed playing basketball in high school and enjoyed lettering in her junior and senior years. She was an avid football fan her entire life & always cheered for the Dallas Cowboys. Her sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Olive is survived by her only child Kathy Sanchez and son-in-law Carl Sanchez; Grandson Matthew Sanchez and his wife Melissa; great-grandchildren Aurelia, Raphael, and Gianna; and Granddaughter Jean Trafecanty & her husband Paul, all of Los Lunas, NM. Olive always had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially dogs and cats. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be sent to local animal shelters. Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Center for Ageless Living, Building III in Los Lunas for their support of her these last few years. Funeral services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Ave SE, Los Lunas, NM 87031. Funeral date is TBD.
