Obituary of Michael Klein

Michael Klein, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, lost his battle with cancer at age 67 on Feb 15. Mike was born in Chicago Ill in 1957. His family moved back home to South Dakota shortly afterward where they stayed until the family moved back to Chicago in 1966. His heart was always in South Dakota where a majority of his paternal family still lives today.

Mike came to Albuquerque after a six year tour in the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force he enjoyed seeing new parts of the world as his tour took him to England and Korea. Upon settling in Albuquerque, he worked for many years as an architectural drafter at Preferred Building Supplies. He was a graduate of UNM where he received his B.S in Geographic Information Systems. Mike enjoyed playing ping pong and participated in the Sr. Olympic Games. Mike is survived by his three brothers, one sister, several cousins, three Aunts and one Uncle.  

Mike’s brother will be taking his ashes to the Black Hills National Cemetery just outside Sturgis South Dakota where he will be interned on July 8th, 2024.
