Obituary of William Stagner
On Monday, February 26, 2024, William "Bill" Stagner, loving husband, retired
Army Chaplain (Major) and Ordained Minister, passed away at age 76.
As well as a devoted clergyman, he was also a very talented musician. He played
the tuba, trombone and many other instruments He played in three bands in Rio
Rancho; the Rio Rancho Symphonic Band, the New Horizons Band and the High
Desert Jazz Band. The fourth band was in his church in Albuquerque where he
played both tuba and trombone. He also had a rich, deep bass voice and sang
solos, duets, quartets and in the church choir.
He was preceded in death by his father Cecil, his mother Mary Jane, his sister Judy
and his brother James. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann, his
brothers, Robert, David, Jeffrey and two sisters Susan Carter and Patricia Kinzbach
and several nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held from 9-9:30 am followed
by a funeral at 10 am on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Heights First Church of the
Nazarene, 8401 Paseo del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Burial will follow
at 2 pm at the VA National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM with full military honors.
