Obituary of Josie Chavez

On March 24,2024 our Heavenly father said to Josie “No More Suffering, no more being alone” for it is time to come home and be New again.

Josie was born on April 9,1929 to Guadalupe and Tranquilino Leyba in Curoco, New Mexico. She was the oldest of five children.

Josie passed away at home with two angels by her side, Bea and Karen, who cared for her until the end.

She wished to be cremated and laid to rest in Leyba, New Mexico with her husband of 63 years Anselmo Chavez JR and her little companion boots.

She is survived by her daughter Loysa and Rose, Her “FAVORITE” Heather and husband Rudy Pena, Her Margarita and her brother Tony Leyba from San Antonio, TX.

She had many Nieces and nephews that she loved very much. Again, she had her favorites.

She was very lucky to have such caring friends and neighbors that always went that extra mile for her.

Josie almost made it to her 95th Birthday. She would always say “I am going to live to be 100 years old”.

Memorial Services will be held on April 26,2024 at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd Ne from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
